January 10, 2004 John Lee Smith, 54, of 604 W. Ostrander Ave., departed this life Saturday at University Hospital after a brief illness. He was a former member of Second Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was presently employed at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Baldwinsville. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Sarah of Syracuse; one son Jordan of Syracuse; six daughters, Jacqueline of Fort Bragg, N.C., Kimberly, Christina, Stephanie and Siquest, all of Syracuse, and Kelli of Portsmouth, VA; eight sisters, Gloria, Della, Marie and Zera, all of Syracuse, Katie of Hartford, Conn., Louise of Harvard, Conn., Diane of Albany, GA, and Mary of NYC, NY; five brothers, Frank "Sonny" of new Britain, Conn., Philmon, Mart Jr., Morris and Douglas, all of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren. Services will be Friday 1 p.m. at Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 219 W. Castle St. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the church. Garland Bros. Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
