LEE, JOHN L. 89, of Louisville, died Monday, December 12, 2005, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion. He was a retired brass polisher from American Standard with 42 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post 220 and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a former member of Ellison Athletic Club, with a batting average of 720, his nickname was "Big Stick." He was also a Shively Youth baseball coach. Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Baunach) Lee; daughters, Sandee Lee Clark, Gerry Lee Bolin (Pete) and Mary Joan Lee Hilbert (Terry); sons, George Louis Lee (Carol), Bob Lee (Denise) and Michael David Lee (Beverly); 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. John's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Drive, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Keenan's Funeral Home, 4724 Dixie Hwy. (at Rockford Lane). Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville or Mass of the Air.
