Butwell, John L. II AVERILL PARK John L. Butwell II, 66, of Stewart Lane died on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born and raised in Newburgh, N.Y., John was the son of the late John L. and Anna Nogay Butwell and husband of the late Sophia Colucci Butwell. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army and was a graduate of St. Rose College. John had resided in Rotterdam Junction before moving to the Averill Park area 26 years ago. He and his late wife had owned and operated small grocery stores, the last being Giffords IGA in Averill Park. John had worked for Amtrak for 10 years before he retired. Survivors include his children, Anna Butwell of Brooklyn and John L. Butwell III of Averill Park and his brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to a celebration of John's life on Saturday September 24, 2 p.m. at his residence 72 Stewart Ln., Averill Park, N.Y.
