<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Feb 15, 1924 - Dec 2, 2014 John Joseph "Joe" Grimes Sr., of Orange Beach, AL and formerly of Selma, AL, passed away on Dec 2, 2014 at the age of 90. He was the son of Lawrence and Hattie Grimes of Birmingham, He was former president of Southland Mower Co, and a local Selma business owner. Mr. Grimes was a member of the Dallas County School Board, the Orange Beach Water Board, the Lions Club, was active in politics, church and his local community. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and his wife Willodine. Joe is survived by his two sons John Joseph Grimes Jr. of Orange Beach, AL and Terrell A. Grimes (Barbara) of Tuscaloosa, AL. Granddaughters, Claudia Grimes Ledbetter (Bryan) of Homewood, AL and Willo Grimes Condon (Kevin) of Fairfax, VA, four great grandchildren, William Price Ledbetter, John Preston Ledbetter, Alexis Grace Conlon, and Caleb Joseph Conlon. He is also survived by beloved friend, Carol Hines from Orange Beach. Joe served in the United States Navy during World War II. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas-By-The-Sea Catholic Church in Orange Beach on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11.00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
