Obituary of John-Jenkinson III

John 'Jack' Jenkinson III Gales Ferry, CTJohn Jack Jenkinson III passed away January 16, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born August 12, 1957 in Schenectady, NY to John J. Jenkinson Jr. and Claudia Barrett Jenkinson. He was a 1975 graduate of Burnt Hills High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 12 years. During that time he earned many decorations and honors for his work including a Navy Achievement Medal and several meritorious awards. After leaving the Navy, he served in several capacities as a civil servant for the Department of Defense, most recently serving as a financial analyst at SUPSHIP in Groton, totaling 30 years of government service. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Teresa (Haley) Jenkinson; his two children, Sarah and Stephen Jenkinson; his mother, Claudia (Barrett) Jenkinson; his sister, Jill (Jenkinson) Parker; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John J. Jenkinson Jr. Jack was a devoted husband and father, always involved with his children's activites and was very proud of both academic and extra-curricular achievements. He was extremely proud to watch both of his children graduate college and accept positions in their desired fields. Although he had a great number of health issues, he maintained his sense of humor and quick wit for which he was known. His famiy always came first, and he made sure his wife was well taken care of. Most recently the couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by going to Orlando, FL where they had their honeymoon. He had a great number of interests including thoroughbred horse racing, current events, history, and was an avid sports fan. He had a great deal of patience as evidenced by his long standing love of the NY Mets and NY Jets. He enjoyed spending time with his mother and sister and her family in upstate New York. He had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, Murphy and Buck, which led to spoiling them with lots of treats. When it came to work, he believed in good customer service and was a perfectionist. It goes without saying that he will be greatly missed by all lives he's touched. In memory of Jack, donations may be sent to the American Liver Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 1006-3003.
