WEST SAND LAKE John J. Jack Teal III, 63, of Cobb Hill Road, died on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness. Born in Defreestville, he was the son of Kathryn Colodich Teal of Valatie and the late John J. Teal Jr. Jack grew up in the Burden Lake area of Averill Park and had attended the Averill Park Schools. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1958-1962. Jack had worked as a route driver for Canada Dry, Seven Up and Coca-Cola for many years and had retired from Coca-Cola in Colonie, where he was a warehouseman. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 669 and was a former shop steward for Coca-Cola. He had resided in West Sand Lake for the past 33 years and was an avid hunter, fisherman and Mark Martin race fan. Jack was a former member of the Black River Raiders Snowmobile Club, the Averill Park Sportsman Club and was also a former Classie Lassie Coach. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Janet Sluus Teal of West Sand Lake; his children, John J. (Rebecca) Teal IV, Kimberly (Michael) Gardner, all of Poestenkill, Stephanie (Harold) Cooper of West Sand Lake and Theodore (Keri) Teal of Sand Lake; his sisters, Anna Mary Curtis of West Sand Lake, Margaret Eksuzian of Pittsfield, Mass., Laura Sturm and Sally Ewald, both of Fla.; his grandchildren, Christopher Gardner and Jaclynn Teal. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's funeral service on Tuesday 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rt. 351, Poestenkill. There will be no calling hours. Interment in the Gerald Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. If desired, the family suggests donations may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund, PO Box 267, Poestenkill, NY 12140 or the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co., 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
