MENANDS John J. Jack Sheehan III, 64, of Menands, died on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Albany after a brief illness. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late John J. and Agnes Favreau Sheehan Jr. He was a graduate of CBA in Albany, the class of 1957 and Siena College, class of 1962, where he received his bachelor's degree in history and English. Jack had worked for the Cohoes School System as a history and English teacher for four years and later had worked for the New York State Department of Labor. He retired as a Sr. administrative analyst in March of 2003 after 33 years of service. He had been a play by play announcer and statistician for the Cohoes Babe Ruth League for six years. He was a past president of the Eastern New York Connie Mack League and was an enthusiastic fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack had also been a former announcer of the RPI Hockey games. He was an avid lover of classical music. He attended many concerts including Union College's Concert Series and SPAC's Orchestral and Chamber Music Series concerts. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Emma Willard Chamber Music. He had an in depth knowledge of all aspects of classical music. Jack was very close to his Catholic faith. He had been a lector at St. Mary's Church in East Greenbush and Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany. He was also a communicant and lector at St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands. He was the brother of the late Mary Ann Sheehan. Funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. from St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
