ObituaryJohn J. Lee, 73, of Cape Coral died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 of A.L.S. under the loving care of Hope Hospice. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late John J. and Mabel (Ghent) Lee. John was a New York City Police Officer for twenty years. He retired in 1974 and moved to Cape Coral where he worked for the City of Cape Coral. He retired from the City of Cape Coral in 1992 to spend time with his children and grandchildren. John was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church. he will be remembered as an unselfish, loving man whose priority in life was his family. Survivors include his wife Sandy of Cape Coral. Five daughters: Barbara J. Dell O'lio, Sicklerville, NJ, Elizabeth Statile, Staten Island, NY, Eileen Kemery, Dorothy Baker and Margaret Davis all of Cape Coral. Three sons: John J. Lee, Jr., Staten Island, NY, Stephen F. Lee, Mesa, AZ, and William R. Lee, Fort Myers. Three step-daughters, Serry Young, Cape Coral, Melanie Bragg, Atlanta, GA, and Susan Alexander, Jackson, MI; two step-sons, Robert Guth, Cape Coral and Scott Thompson, Akron, OH. One sister Fran Mahoney, Long Island, NY; 28 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2002 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow services at Coral Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing Sunday evening between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a scripture wake service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice.
