-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Borowski, John J.Honesdale, PA: John J. Borowski, 91, of Honesdale, died peacefully in his sleep at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a long-standing illness. Borowski was born in Dunmore, PA in 1922, son of the late Stanley Borowski and Victoria Chihowoska. He was a member in good standing and service of the greatest generation, which answered the call and served honorably in World War II. Borowski was honorably discharged from the United States Army's 1st Calvary Division, as a Private First Class, after serving from 1944 to 1946. He was inducted in 1944 and served in the Philippines and as a member of the United States Occupation Army in Japan. He was a holder of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon (Philippines), the Army Occupation Medal for service in Japan, the Liberation Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was a farmer as well as a lathe operator for most of his life, which was lived primarily in Wayne County as well as Johnson City and Dunmore. He spent the last years of his life at Julia Ribaudo Care Center in Lake Ariel. He married Jean A. Amor in 1943. She died March 28, 1993. Borowski embraced life and all that it had to offer with an immediacy that never included complaining. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and in his youth, was known for being an enthusiastic and energetic dancer at Polish American festivals and celebrations. Borowski is survived by a brother, a sister, two daughters, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, part of a large Borowski clan.
