<br><br><br> -->John (Jay) Hertz Lee CHARLOTTE, NC-- Mr. John Lee, 57, of Charlotte, NC, died peacefully Monday, August 6, 2007 at CMC Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cynthia (Cydni) Yount Lee, and their two sons, Adam Brown Lee and Jordan Charles Lee, of the home.; his mother, Barbara Brown Lee of Charlotte; and four brothers, C. Dixon Lee, III, and his wife, Julia of Chapin, SC; Keith A. Lee and his wife, Robin of Boling Springs, SC; Scott C. Lee of Rock Hill, SC; and Sanders L. Lee and his wife, Meg of Spartanburg, SC. John attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Carolina Military Academy in Maxton, NC. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and attended Central Piedmont Community College and Winthrop University. He was a real estate broker with Crosland-Osmar in Pineville and Bill Allen and Assoc. of Charlotte before going into business for himself as Landsource properties. He was formerly a District Manager in the Circulation Department of the Charlotte News. He was a life-long member of Myers Park United Methodist Church. John held a life long passion for scouting and outdoors sports. He was a committee member and committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 166 at Providence Baptist Church, during which time he proudly saw each of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His life truly embodied the tenets of scouting: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty. Brave, Clean and Reverent. Among John's fondest childhood memories were the summers spent at Camp Skyuka near Tryon, NC. In recent years, John volunteered his time and energies towards worthy causes; and was on the board of directors of the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center. He also volunteered with The Bethlehem Center and South Tryon Community Church. He served on the Board of the South Tryon Street Community Development Center. He was a Police Department volunteer with the Handicap Parking Enforcement Unit. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his boys. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Myers Park United Methodist Church. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte NC 28203; Boy Scouts of America, 1410 East 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28204 or to South Tryon Community Church fund, c/o Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC.
