LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. John Hasselberger, III, 75, of Chamberlain Ferry Rd., entered into rest on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at New Work Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Pine Grove Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Bain, Earl Elam, Patrick Guin, Vern Kirby, Tom Prince, and Tom Schulte. Mr. Hasselberger was retired from the United States Navy and was a member of New Work Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Skinner and husband, Glen and Dorothy Botelho; brother, Billy Hasselberger and wife, Beverly of Danbury, CT.; sister, Phylis Hasselberger Mattice and husband, Robert of Carbondale, CO.; four grandchildren, Dale Skinner and wife, Barbara of North Augusta, S.C., Lee Skinner of Lincolnton, Tammy Caudell and husband, Cale of Winterville, GA., Shawn Botelho and Amy Danner of Augusta, GA.; great granddaughters, Stephany and Bryce Skinner; nephews, Bobby and Johnny Hasselberger of CT. and Scott and Jessie Mattice of CO. and a dear friend, Judy Berkham of Lincolnton. Mr. Hasselberger was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Peggy Creech Hasselberger and a grandson, Jonathan Botelho.
