Harkins, John H. III April 15, 1935 - Dec. 21, 2010John H. "Jack" Harkins III, 75, of Bradenton, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa. died Dec. 21, 2010.Kicliter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A son, friend, husband, father and grandfather, Jack moved from Pittsburgh, Pa. to Sarasota in 1943. He graduated from Sarasota High School and served in the National Guard Reserve. Jack married his one true love, Sarah. They shared their life together for 52 years. Jack has three children, Glenda, her husband, Greg Johnson; John H. and his wife Ina Schielke; Brenda and her husband Roy Lovett; and four grandchildren all of Bradenton, remain to share his memories. Jack worked as a production Pressman for newspapers in Sarasota and Bradenton for almost 40 years. He retired from the Bradenton Herald in 1996. Jack enjoyed the hobby of motorcycle riding, Enduro motorcycle races and Hare Scramble competition from 1966 through 2010. He was a member of the American Motorcycle association and Florida Trail Riders Association with participation in local clubs Sandslingers and Sarasota Area Dirt Riders Association ( SADRA). A memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1st, 2011 at Hap's Cycle Sales in Sarasota. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the SADRA scholarship fund at 1254 Northwest Brownville Street Arcadia, FL 34266.
