->John H. Connell, 88, of Whitman, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, in the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. He was the beloved husband of Anne B. (Walsh) Connell. John was born in Stoughton, a graduate of Mission High School in Boston and he had been a resident of Whitman for over 30 years. John was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church of Whitman. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving his country from 1942-1946 as an electrician 2nd Class. John was an electrician for the former Mass Electric, now National Grid, for over 40 years. He enjoyed his grandchildren, walking and reading. In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by his children, Mike Connell of Weymouth, Gary Connell and his wife Marilyn of Braintree, Brian Connell and his wife Lynda of Whitman, John Connell Jr. of Whitman, Thomas and his wife Andrea of East Bridgewater, Maryanne Gosselin of Weymouth and the late David Connell. Also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Lopresti of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 8:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 28, from 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Holy Ghost Church, Washington St., Whitman, MA 02382.
