Major Gomez was assigned to the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron at Sewart Air Force Base in 1960 and remained there until 1966 when he was transferred to Test Flight in Marietta, GA. He was a member of Central Christian Church while residing in Murfreesboro, TN. Major Gomez was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gomez, and a son, John Gomez, IV. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Lowe (Robert C.) of Palm Harbor, FL and Jennifer Gomez of Albany, CA.
