CONCORD -- John J. Glennon III, 60, died Aug. 3, 2009, in Concord Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Concord, he was the son of John J. Glennon and Alice (Sullivan) Glennon. Mr. Glennon attended St. John Regional School in Concord and Bishop Bradley in Manchester. He was a Boston College graduate, class of 1971. In addition, he received a bachelor's and an MBA from New Hampshire College. He was a member of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the Appalachian Mountain Club, Trout Unlimited and the Sunset Mountain Fish and Game Club. Mr. Glennon was an assistant Scout master of his son's troop. He also helped coach youth hockey and baseball. He was a voracious reader, especially history and non-fiction. He enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, hiking and camping. Prior to his diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2004, he had climbed 32 of the 4,000-foot mountains in New Hampshire. His two great passions were fly fishing and golf. He retired in 2008 from the Administrative Office of the Courts for the State of New Hampshire. IN HIS LIFE: Besides his wife of 31 years, Doris (Huckins) Glennon, he leaves a son, J. Patrick Glennon; a daughter, Jessica Glennon Czaja and her husband, Eric; a sister, Kathy (Glennon) Cutler and her husband, Rob, of Warwick, R.I.; a brother, Bob Glennon and his wife, Linda, of Hingham, Mass.; nieces Eleanor and Ann Cutler, and Grace Glennon; and nephews Joseph and William Glennon. SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 S. Main Street, Concord. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, East Concord.
