COLONIE John Franken III, 52, of Colonie, passed away on April 14, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Jane Franken Jr. He lived in New Baltimore for most of his life before moving to Colonie four years ago. Mr. Franken volunteered as fire police with Midway Fire Station #1. John is the beloved husband of Carlene Vermilyea Franken of Colonie. He is the brother of Judith Franken of New Baltimore. He is the cousin of Wayne Van Kampen of Coeymans Hollow, Patty Surrano of West Coxsackie and John Kilmer and Peter Kilmer, both of Ravena. Also surviving are his godchildren, Michael and Elisha Van Kampen. Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midway Fire Department, 1956 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of John Franken III.
