SODDY-DAISY, TENN.- John Francis Keyes, 78, passed away on Saturday (July 10, 2010).The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, (July 13) at the Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Rd., Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., 37379, 423-843-2525, with prayers being held at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (July 14) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 10768 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN, 37379, with Monsignor Al Humbrecht and Father Mike Creson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with full military honors.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1015, Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee 37384.He was born on November 19, 1931 in Waterloo, to the Late James L. and Frances E. Keyes. He graduated from Waterloo High School and was a 1953 graduate from Cornell University in Ithaca, where he received his B.S. Degree in Wildlife Management.Mr. Keyes began his career in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant and retired as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves (Office of Special Investigations, (OSI)). He also served as a civilian in Government Contracting for over 30 years and retired from the Air Force Systems Command, Andrews Air Force Base.He enjoyed his 16 years as a docent at the Tennessee Aquarium and working with the youth at St. Bridget Catholic Church and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.Mr. Keyes leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Laura; sons, J-Kevin of Waldorf, Md., Michael of East Ridge, Tenn. and Daniel of Alexandria, Va.; granddaughter, Erinn (Phillip) Huckaby; his poodle, Roxanne; and numerous friends.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis; and son, Steven.Arrangements are by locally owned and operated Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
