<!-- FH = BLOUNT, CURRY & ROEL FUNERAL HOME -->RUDY, John F. II "Jack," passed away on January 13, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Rudy; his son, John F. Rudy, III (Jay) and his wife Amanda: his daughter, Robin Rudy Lawson and her husband Richard and three grandchildren, John, Adelaide and Sadie Lawson. His brother Jim Rudy and his wife Marie; his sister, Pamela Rudy Yurick and her husband John; his sister, Grace Gamble and her husband, Stephen, Tom Durrance and numerous nieces and nephews. "Jack" was born in Orlando, Florida and raised in Washington, D.C. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, B.A., 1960, the Washington College of Law of American University, J.D., 1963 and the Air War College, USAF, 1976. In Washington, Jack worked in private practice before joining the Judge Advocate General's Department in the U.S. Air Force. During part of his tour of duty in Vietnam, Jack lived with the Montagnards, a native people who lived in the country's North Central Highlands. After serving in the Air Force Reserve, he retired as a Colonel. Following his military service, Jack worked for the U. S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C. as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Criminal Trial, Appellate and Grand Jury Divisions, 1967-1970, and Chief of the Grand Jury and Special Prosecutions Section, 1971-1974. In 1974, Jack joined the MacFarlane, Ferguson Law Firm in Tampa. In 1981 Jack was one of the founding partners of Bush, Ross, Gardner, Warren and Rudy, PA (Bush Ross, PA). In 2000, Jack was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to serve as the Interim State Attorney for Hillsborough County. In addition, Jack served as President of the Hillsborough County Bar Association in 1999-2000 and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar, 2001-2005. Jack was awarded the Outstanding Lawyer Award in 2005, and the Herbert Goldburg Memorial Award in 2007. Prior to retiring from the practice of law, Jack was a certified mediator, arbitrator and trial attorney, concentrating on commercial and business litigation, criminal law anti-trust and trade regulation, and environmental law. He deeply enjoyed his work and mentoring other attorneys. He was a member of the Tampa Yacht and Country Club, and past member of The University Club, The Tampa Club, Rotary International, Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Board of Fellows of the University of Tampa, POW/MIA DAY Committee Chair, Leadership Tampa, Tampa Leadership Conference, Leadership Tampa Law Enforcement Day Program Chair, "Ask a Lawyer" Channel 13 and the Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. He was always active, whether fishing, hunting, skiing, boating, gourmet cooking, reading, traveling, playing with his grandchildren or just stretching his legs. He was a wonderful, caring, loving husband, father and friend. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on January 28, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Chester H. Ferguson Law Center, 1610 North Tampa Street, Tampa FL 33602.
