John F. McLellan ,age 76, of Bridgewater MA, formally of Abington MA passed peacefully at his home after a brief illness on March 16 with his family by his side. Born in North Weymouth on December 25th, 1933 to the late Archie J. and Euphemia A (MacMillan). Married Linda Soderbom of Bridgewater in April 1961. Survived by his loving children Christine McLellan of Braintree, Timothy and Pam (Winters) McLellan of Michigan and Mary McLellan of Braintree, sister Florence M. Pritchard of Sandwich and preceded by brother Ronald J. McLellan and sister Helen V. McLellan. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor, and many nieces and nephews. Raised in Weymouth Schools, graduating in 1951, graduated Boston College School of Business Administration in 1955. Served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957 on the USS Iowa. Employed by Patterson, Teele & Dennis (1957-1962), XTRA, Inc (1962-1972) and as a CPA, joined the County of Plymouth in 1973. Served as elected Plymouth County Treasurer from 1976 to 2006. Served as Chairman of the Plymouth County Retirement Board, Treasurer of Plymouth County Correctional Facility Corp. responsible for the financial construction-management of the Flynn Correctional Facility in Plymouth. Member of the Abington Knights of Columbus, past Faithful Navigator Francis Cardinal Spellman Fourth Region Knights of Columbus, former President of the Massachusetts Association of Contributory Retirement System, member of the Plymouth County Democratic League, Bridgewater Democratic Town Committee, Bridgewater Veterans Club and member of Bridgewaters Stone Meadow Residents Association. Resident of Abington MA for forty years while enjoying his love for golf at Strawberry Valley and Rockland Golf Courses prior to retiring and moving to Bridgewater five years ago. Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater on Friday, March 19th at 8 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, East Bridgewater at 9 a.m. followed by a burial with Navy Honors to be held at Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visitation Thursday from 4 - 8. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Johns name to Old Colony Hospice of Randolph MA, St. Vincent de Paul of St. Johns Church, East Bridgewater, or St. Vincent de Paul of St. Bridgets Church, Abington.
