John F. FitzGerald IIHallstead, Pa.John F. Fitzgerald II, 39, of Hallstead, Pa., passed away November 22, 2006. He was the son of Elinore Kovitch FitzGerald, and the late John F. FitzGerald. Besides his mother, he is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kelly Ann FitzGerald, and Stephanie and Kenneth Collins; three nieces, Morgan Reed-FitzGerald, Kimberly Collins, Keely FitzGerald; and a nephew, Kaleb Collins; aunts, uncles, and cousins. John graduated from Blue Ridge High School, New Milford, Pa. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and became an Instructor of Guerrilla Warfare at Quantico and Camp Perry, Va. He received a Certificate of Recognition for service during the Cold War period. Following his military service, John attended and graduated from Keystone Junior College, LaPlume, Pa., earning an Associates of Arts Degree. While at Keystone, he co-hosted a radio talk show on international affairs. He was named to the Dean's List and National Dean's List. John was also instrumental in helping to establish the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society at Keystone, and was among one of its first inductees. Later, he graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor's Degree in History, and a minor in Industrial Security. While at Mansfield, he helped organize the Mansfield Boxing Club, and earned the title "Light Heavyweight." John also was a model for the art classes at Mansfield. John's experiences with many diverse individuals that he met and instructed set into motion his artistic writing talents. John authored "Ravonna Dances", having used these experiences. John was a member of the Sons of the America Legion, Post 357, Hallstead, having served as Adjutant, Vice Commander, and Second Vice Commander. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League of Susquehanna County, and an Associate Member of VFW Post 6223, Great Bend, Pa.Funeral services will be held at Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, 5 Susquehanna Avenue, Hallstead, Pa., on Monday, November 27, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Great Bend, Pa., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Father Louis Kaminski, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
