BEDFORD - John F. "Jack" Belanger, 63, died Oct. 17, 2013, at Catholic Medical Center, surrounded by his family and close friends following a brief illness. He was born in Manchester on Oct. 26, 1949, the son of Roger J. and Elizabeth (Norton) Belanger and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester and Bedford. He was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, class of 1967, and NHVTI. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a master sergeant after 26 years in the 1st Battalion of the 304th Regiment. Jack was also in the 1034 USARF Training School, the 607 Military Police Unit and the 97th ARCON Unit. Jack was a patrolman for the Goffstown and Bedford Police Departments and also was sheriff for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department. Jack was an Independent Insurance Agent and had also been employed with the Roger J. Belanger Insurance Agency, Grange Mutual, Northfork & Dedham Insurance, Foy Insurance, Elliot Insurance, Surplex Insurance Underwriters, Primex Insurance and his own company, JB Insurance. Jack was a member of many community organizations, which included the board of directors for the New Hampshire Special Olympics, the 20th Skeet Club of Hooksett, the Manchester Lions Club, and he was one of the incorporators of the New Hampshire Police Emerald Society. Jack was the current president of the Pointer Fish & Game Club in Bedford for 10 years and the current commander of the Bedford American Legion Stevens-Buswell Post 54. Family members include his wife of 37 years, Donna (Maksymec) Belanger of Bedford; a son, Greg Belanger, and a daughter, Krista Belanger, both of Bedford; a brother, Daniel Belanger and his wife, Sharon, of Hooksett; his favorite sister-in-law, Kathy (Maksymec) Bilodeau and her husband, Tony, of Weare; a brother-in-law, Robert Maksymec, of Manchester; two nephews, Jamie Belanger of Boston, Christopher Morey of Weare; one niece, Elizabeth Belanger of Hooksett; his longtime best friend, Gary Poulin of Auburn; and several cousins. . services: Calling hours will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford. Burial will be at a later date in the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pointer Fish & Game Club, P.O.
