Obituary of John-Everett Connell


WEDOWEE — Funeral services for Mr. John Everett Connell, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008, from the Upper Cane Creek Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Glover officiating. Mr. Connell will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Mr. Connell died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at his residence. Pallbearers will be sons and John Crosson. Mr. Connell is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Simmers Connell; five sons, Dennis and his wife, Debbie Connell, of Wedowee, Doyle and his wife, Linda Connell, of Fort Valley Ga., Steve and his wife, Wanda Connell, of Munford, Donnie and his wife, Akelajo Connell, of Centerville, Ga., Tyrone and his wife, Jo Connell, of Anniston; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Connell was born February 16, 1930, the son of John and Mary Edwards Connell. He was a member of Upper Cane Creek Methodist Church and a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge. Mr. Connell is preceded in death by his parents, John H. Connell; and Mary Edwards Connell.
