John Edward Lawton III, 95, Sarasota, died Aug. 30, 2004. He was born July 25, 1909, in Philadelphia and came to Sarasota 25 years ago from Springfield, Pa. He retired as an executive with the former Bell Telephone Co., and owned and operated Play Hill Children's Day Camp in Springfield. He was former president of the Rotary Club in Springfield. He was a Presbyterian and a member of Church of the Palms Covenant Methodist Church in Springfield. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jennifer; sons Gary E. of Acton, Mass., and Lawrence E. of Cherry Hill, N.J.; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Visitation, services and burial will be private. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge.
