->North Stonington - John E. "Jack" Marriott III, 72, of Denison Hill Road, North Stonington, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at The Westerly Hospital surrounded by his loving family.He was the husband of Carolyn (Maine) Marriott. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.Born in Westerly on April 24, 1939, Jack was the son of the late John E. Marriott Jr. and Alice (Reynolds) Marriott.Jack worked for Electric Boat in Groton for many years as an electrician and then in change control. After his retiring from EB, he worked part time as a ranger for the Richmond Country Club in Richmond, R.I.Jack was a longtime member and past president of the Ashaway Sportsmen's Club. Jack was an excellent marksman who greatly enjoyed his annual hunting trips to Maine. He enjoyed the companionship of his beloved black Labs. Jack was an avid Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers fan who also enjoyed his weekly golf league.Besides his loving wife, he will be sadly missed by his children, John E. Marriott IV and his wife, Jennifer, of Hope Valley, R.I., Cathleen Holland and her husband, Paul, of Stonington, and Steven Marriott and his wife, Dawn, of Charlestown, R.I. Jack was also survived by his sister, Jean Marriott of Old Lyme; as well as six grandchildren, Amanda, Jacquelyn, Rachel, Caitlin, Elena, and Brayden.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly. Burial will be private.
