John Douglas Rafter, 58 PORTLAND – John Douglas Rafter, 58, of Vancroft Street, died Sunday, July 17, 2005. He was born in Manchester, N.H., on Sept. 27, 1946, a son of Doug and Dorothy Mae Thompson Rafter. He attended schools in Arlington, Mass., and received his diploma in Portland. He worked as an assistant Pipe Organ Tech for Leighton Organ Service. John was married to Martha Hodgkins in Portland on Feb. 8, 1975. He loved reading, music and photography. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy. He is survived by his father, Douglas Rafter; and his beloved wife of 30 years, Martha.
