John-David Martin, born in 1939, spouse of Pat Martin, son of John and Edna, father of Scott, Tricia, Kathleen, Doug, Jackie and Michael, died on September 5, 2011 at 15 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
MARTIN, Dr. John David October 01, 1939 - September 05, 2011 Born in Toronto, Ontario to Edna Louise and John Young, he graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1965. David married Patricia Gall on October 20, 1962. He spent 15 years working as a physician throughout Canada's northern communities. David loved the people, and the land and his significant contributions to the public health profession are celebrated by all those who knew him. Most recently, he was an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Health Care and Epidemiology at the University of British Columbia, and a Program Medical Officer with First Nations and Indian Health until his retirement in 2010. He served as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a member of the Vancouver Rotary Club, a scout leader, and played the French horn with the Royal City Alumni Band. David will be dearly missed by his wife of 48 years, Pat; his brother Robert (Beth); his children, Michael (Sue), Jackie, Doug (Sharon), Kathleen (Robert), Tricia (Tom), and Scott; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; extended family, colleagues and close friends. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10122 - 140th street, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Cancer Society. Please share your memories of David online at remembering.ca
