John Daniel Wyker IIDecaturJohn Wyker, 88, of Decatur went home to be with his Lord on September 11, 2010. He died peacefully at his home. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A service celebrating his life will be held Monday, September 13, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Roe Callaway of Gainsville, Ga. officiating, followed by a private graveside service at Decatur Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the church parlor one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Lee Barren, Mike Curl, Jon Emens, Jack Moores, Charles Murphree, Woody Peebles and nephews, Bo Osborn, Rick Osborn and Max Osborn.Mr. Wyker was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ella Wyker and his brother, J.W. (Bill) Wyker Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, June Osborn; daughters, Susan Jones and Ella Martin (Bruce) and son, John Wyker III; grandchildren, Beau Jones (Deede), John Wyker IV, and Ella Lela Wyker, all of Decatur; Jennifer Capps (Matt) of Bradenton, Fla., Lauren Martin of Decatur; great-grandsons, Wyker Jones and Ian Jones, both of Decatur, and nieces and nephews.Mr. Wyker was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and The University of Alabama, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He served as a Lt. J.G. in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II.
