John Davis, born in 1830, spouse of Doris Davis, son of Alexis, father of Kelly, Glen, Howard and Linda, died on May 14, 1922 at 92 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
DAVIS, John (Jack) B May 14, 1922 - October 23, 2014 . Jack passed peacefully, in his 92nd year, with his family by his side at Mountain View Manor. It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Doris, in March 2014. He is survived by his younger brother Dick (Betty), children Linda (Rick), Howard (Beverly), Glen (Darlene), Kelly (Harry), grandchildren Aaron (Zoe), Shawn (Dana), Carla, Kevin (Stephanie), Beth, Kelli (Scott), Samantha, Laura (Stewart) and great-grandchildren Daniel, Mia, Gabby and Mason. Dad grew up on the family farm. It was the best of times for Jack, as a boy playing on the farm and neighbouring beach. As a teenager and young adult, he loved helping his father Alexis "Leckie" run the farm, planting crops and milking the cows. In the good old days, on Saturday nights, Dad rode his bicycle 5 miles to the Ladner community hall and played trumpet in the dance band. In later years, he continued to play in the local community band for many years. In the late 1960s, the Davis farm was sold and the family moved to a new home on Whitworth Crescent, where Dad took pride in keeping a large, bountiful garden and greenhouse. He pursued his interest in growing fuchsias and begonias which adorned the sun deck, each year more beautiful than the last! He and Mom joined the local square dance club, the Tunnel Twirlers and enjoyed many fun outings with the club. In retirement, Dad explored his interest in history, World War 2 aircraft and spent many happy hours carving wooden model planes. In later years, after moving with Mom to a condo in downtown Ladner, Dad joined the Ladner volunteers of the Kirkland House, the home his grandfather built in 1911. He was warmly received at the House and the Wednesday morning workshops were a highlight of his week, looking forward to whatever project was underway. He was often asked to recall memories of his early days at the homestead to assist in the ongoing task of recreating the historical home. We would like to acknowledge Dr Long and the wonderful staff at Mountain View Manor for all their care, comfort and support of Dad during his stay there. A private Celebration of Dad's life will be held at a later date at the Kirkland House. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society or to the Kirkland House Foundation. "We will miss your love and support Dad. God bless."
