DANBURY -- John David Fernandes, 83, died Feb. 2, 2009, at Franklin Regional Hospital. Mr. Fernandes was born in Lowell, Mass., the son of Jose and Virginia Fernandes. He lived in the Manchester area, Loudon and Danbury. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Central Pacific, and was honorably discharged April 22, 1946. After his service, he was a truck driver and a mason/builder. Mr. Fernandes enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. The family includes three sons, Scott and Lane Fernandes of California and David Fernandes of Danbury; a granddaughter of Danbury; two brothers, Manuel Fernandes of Hinsdale and Edward Fernandes of Manchester; a sister, Theodora Bulkowski of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
