CARTER _ John Stephen John Stephen Carter passed away October 4, 2008 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Margaret; son Michael; daughter-in-law Leslie Jackson-Carter; grandchildren Kyle and Kiara; brother Jim (Betty); sister Marette (Richard) Duffin; and sister Theresa Parker. John was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Evelyn; brother Henry; brother-in-law Gordon Parker and grandson Melford. John was also fortunate to have many nephews, nieces and long time friends who played a large role in his life. John grew up in Montreal then served in WWII with the Royal Navy based in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon return he graduated with B.Sc. Honors in Geology from McGill. His work as a Geologist took him around the world by plane, boat and elephant. John touched many people through his work and life with his stories and humor. He cared for all those he knew. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Legion Branch No. 264, 1910 Kensington Road N.W., Calgary. Special thanks to Debbie on Unit 72, Dr. Powell, and very heartfelt appreciation goes to the Agape staff that cared for him so completely and supported his family unconditionally.
