John-Boyce-Griffith II, born in 1925, spouse of Tommie-Sue-Blount Griffith, son of William-Walker and Annie, father of Reverend Martha Celeste, died on January 24, 2006.
GRIFFITH John Boyce Griffith II passed away January 24, 2006. He was born in Columbus, Georgia September 14, 1925 to Annie and William Walker Griffith. "J.B.", a Jacksonville resident since 1969 was retired from the Glidden Chemical Company. He was a WWII navy veteran, a Mason for over 55 years, a Shriner, and a member of the German American Club. He was a member of Murray Hill United Methodist Church serving in many offices, working on many projects, and singing in the choir. He loved his church and church family, and he loved helping others. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Tommie Sue Blount Griffith. He was preceded in death by their daughter, Reverend Martha Celeste Griffith. Other survivors include a sister, Louise Beard of Port St. Joe, Florida; brother, Bill Griffith (Carol) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Margaret B. Reese of Ocala, Florida and Eleanor B. Fewell of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, John B. Bedsole of Dothan, Alabama; and manynieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2006 at Murray Hill United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Dr. Nate Boles and Rev. Bob Long officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow the services at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Murray Hill United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 729 S. Edgewood Avenue.
