<!-- FH = Oak Lawn Funeral Home -->John was born in his grandparents' home in Rayville, LA. He grew up in Shreveport, LA., where he met and married his wife of 47 years, Carol. They moved to Pensacola in 1971 where he lived for the remainder of his life.John was a loving husband and father. He was involved with Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, loved to watch the Cubs, Ice Pilots, Florida Gators and from time to time play a round of golf. He was extremely patriotic and loved this country.He was employed and retired from Baptist Hospital. After retirement, he volunteered in the Outpatient Surgical Suite. John was a faithful member of Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church. He was known for his strong handshake and bear hug!He is preceded in death by his mother and father (Missy and Tommy). He is leaving behind his wife Carol; son, Jim Binion, his wife, Sue and their sons Codi and Reid; daughter Cathy Chellette, her husband Richard and their son Branden; sisters, Gail Jenkins, her husband Dan and their daughter Janice Heath; Neely Brown, her husband Randy and their son Severin; sister-in-law, Nancy Powell, her husband Don and their children Heather, Dennis Reese, Mark, Erik, Jon; and 11 great nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 3-5:00pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home and the graveside service will be held on Monday 10:00 am October 18, 2010 at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church or any local charity of your choice.Condolences may be left at www.oaklawnfunerals.com
