John Anthony Kelly III John Anthony Kelly III, 63, who had been employed in the legal insurance business, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. The service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Monday at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Monticello, with burial at Roseland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT today at the home of Billy and Donna Bassett in Monticello.Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel (997-5612) is handling arrangements. He lived most of his life in Monticello and was a former resident of Athens, Ga. He was a graduate of Jefferson County High School, had attended Florida State University and graduated from St. Bernard College in Cullman, Ala. He was a former vice president of First American Bank in Athens, served on the board of directors for Guyan Eagle Investment Co., and was the co-founder of Legal Line prepaid legal services.A devoted father, family man and friend, Johnny Kelly was a loving and giving man who never met a stranger and always had a smile. A quick wit and exuberant personality were part of his charm. His strength, courage and will to live were an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will live on in the people who loved him. He is survived by a son, John "Jay" Anthony Kelly IV (and wife Ali) of Tallahassee; a daughter, Laurie Kelly Flowers (and husband Mikell) of Tallahassee; a brother, Monsignor Michael Davin Kelly of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Katherine "Cassie" Cunningham of Marietta, Ga., and Mary Kelly Wise and Jean Kelly Bracey, both of Thomasville, Ga.; seven nephews; two nieces; and two special caregivers, Lucille Graham and Barbara Frasier, both of Monticello.
