Obituary of John-Allan Collett


COLLETT John Allan Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Vancouver General Hospital. John was surrounded by loving family at the time of his passing. John was born into a prominent pioneering family to Allan and Gloria (nee Morrissey) Collett on July 7, 1943. John was known for his athletic ability and enjoyed baseball, track and field and Rodeo. He was president of the Nicola Valley Rodeo Assoc. for many years. He was part of the ranching community for which he dedicated the majority of his life to. Later John sold the Collett Ranch and began a new way of life, which included traveling the world and meeting his companion Maricel Loquino in the Philippines. John is survived by Maricel Loquino of the Philippines, sister Caroline Pound of Big Valley, AB, daughter's Paula Collett of Canmore, AB, Pamela Ferman of Vancouver and Katrina Loquino of the Philippines, his grandchildren: Corey Collett, Jennifer and David Collins, Paige Collett-Arduini, nieces, Teresa Grieg and Anne Pound; cousins Kerry Morrissey, Mark Pooley, Lisa Leduc, Sue Berkes, and Carmen Ross. John was predeceased by his loving parents Allan and Gloria Collett, brother Casey Collett; two sons, John Collett and Michael Collett, and grandson, Kyle Kramb. John was a kind and generous man. His smile and hearty laugh will be truly missed. Prayer Service: Friday November 21, at Sacred Heart Church, 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Saturday, November 22, 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Merritt Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
