John Angus MacLellan, also known as J. Scott MacLellan, of Stow, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Wayside Hospice in Wayland, of complications due to cancer. A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife, Lillian MacLellan; their three sons, Daniel MacLellan, Donald MacLellan and Douglas MacLellan; their daughter, Mary Ann Stevens; their grandson, Hayden Stevens; and their granddaughter, Annie MacLellan. John was a successful actor and voice over talent, as well as a radio DJ for many years. His storytelling and sense of humor were legendary. It was always said that he could make anyone laugh. A musician and music lover, he inspired his children and friends to enjoy and be involved in the arts. Always proud of his Scottish and French Canadian heritage, he was a big man with an even bigger heart and a true zest for life, which included never forgetting the places and the people he came from. He was passionate about his work, his family, and of course his loyal dogs. In addition to being an animal lover, he supported dog rescues by adopting his own dogs. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, seeing action in the Pacific, and was always a strong supporter of veterans rights. There are no public services. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, you make a kind gesture to someone and ask them to pay it forward. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, Sudbury.
