Joe Smith, of 80 Thurston St., died June 7, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville County, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He served in World War II. Surviving are a niece, Lillian Smith Harris and husband Hubert Harris, of Chicago, Ill. Visitation: Noon to 12:30 p.m. today at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary, followed by the service at 12:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
