Joe Bill Stewart, 76, of Galena, Missouri, departed this life at 3:57 a.m. Friday morning, September 29, 2006, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. Joe was born May 22, 1930, in Spokane, Missouri, to Roy and Merle (Bass) Stewart. Joe graduated in 1948 from Spokane High School. After graduation, he went to Chicago, Illinois, and worked in a factory. He returned to Missouri and began working for the highway department. During this time, he married Jean Keltner March 28, 1950. From this union was born his three children. He was a loving father and grandfather and considered this among his greatest accomplishments. In his lifetime, he wore many hats and had numerous business accomplishments. He was a self-employed heavy equipment contractor. He also was the owner of an over-the-road trucking company, the manager of Blansit Livestock Barn, a Bank Director and stockholder of Stone County National Bank, an officer on the 911 Emergency Board, appointed to the Missouri State Dam and Reservoir Safety Council, a member of the Galena R-II School Board for over twenty years, and a local farmer and stockman. His life was changed when he was saved (converted) in July, 1950. He served as assistant pastor at Oak Ridge Full Gospel Church before he became Pastor of the Sixty-Five Full Gospel Church for well over twenty years. Joe is survived by his wife, Jean Stewart; his three children, Larry Stewart and his wife, Paula, of Galena, Missouri; Randy Stewart and his wife, Della, of Spokane, Missouri; Becky Essick and her husband, Mike, of Ozark, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Roy Homer Stewart; and four sisters, Lola Madden, Imogene Ellingsworth, Mellie Stewart and Lorene Argie; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Galena High School on Tuesday, October 3, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Wilbur Blansit and Reverend Steve Eutsler officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, October 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, Missouri. Burial (interment) will be at the Schupbach Cemetery in Chestnut Ridge, Missouri.
