->AUGUSTA -- Joanne L. Lapointe, 70, of Philip Avenue, and formerly of New York City, died September 1, 2007 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on January 22, 1937 the daughter of Wilfred Lapointe and Alexina (Campeau) Lapointe. Joanne graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1956, and later from Gates Business College. She was employed for many years by Pan American Airlines. Joanne was a member of St. Andrew's Church of St. Michaels Parish, Cony Alumni. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers: Romeo, Robert, Armand and Maurice Lapointe; and four sisters: Florence Beaudoin, Alcea Lavallee, Rita Chapman and Arlene Lahaye. Surviving are three brothers: Henry Lapointe and Norman Lapointe, both of Augusta and Roland Lapointe of South China; one sister, Theresa Larochelle of Augusta; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church of St. Michael's Parish. Committal will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
