MILTON -- Joan O. Brown, 77, of White Mountain Highway, died March 4, 2010, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. She was born March 28, 1932, in Boston, to Henry B. and Helen I. (Brazer) Batchelor. She was raised in Brookline, Mass., and resided in Milton since 1956. She was a graduate of The Windsor School, Brookline, Mass. She earned an asociate's degree from Colby Junior College and a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, having graduated cum laude. She served as a librarian at Nute Library. She especially enjoyed having owned and operated with her husband and children the Red Door Sport and Gift Shop in Milton for years. She was a member of Community Church of Milton, and served as secretary of Friendship Circle of the church. She was a member of FANA, collectors and displayers of old fans, having recently helped to organize their national convention in Portsmouth. Family members include her husband of 53 years, O. Wendell Brown; three children, Marie Watson of Wolfeboro, Helen Kaszynski of Peyton, Colo. and Thomas H. Brown of Nashua; five grandchildren; a brother, Norman Batchelor of Cape Neddick, Maine; and nine nephews and nieces. SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington. A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Community Church of Milton, 7 Steeple St., Milton, with the Rev. Betsy Webber, pastor, officiating.
