Obituary of Joan-H. Williams


OAKFIELD - Joan H. Williams, 72, died Feb. 17, 2009, in Oakfield. She was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Oakfield, the daughter of William and Ruth (Baston) Brannen. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cummings and her husband, Earl, of Silver Ridge, and Judy Gilbo and her husband, Gerard, of Londonderry, N.H., and Moro Plantation; one son, Richard Williams Jr. and his wife, Emmy, of Medway; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Coleen Rockwell, Nola Goodall, both of Oakfield, Bonnie Campbell of Merrill and Linda Boutilier of Montana; one brother, Vaughn Shields; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Gail, Wayne, Jeannie, Joy, Sharon, Bill, Stella, Ralph, Shirley, Bill, Errol and her constant companion, Penny. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; one grandson, Roger Alan; and brothers, Roger, Keith, Frank and Larry. The family thanks Hospice of Aroostook and Visiting Nurses of Aroostook for all their care and compassion. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday. Spring interment will be at Oakfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Comfort Blankets, Inc., care of Bobbie Dumond, P.O. Box 566, Milford, ME 04461.
