Obituary of Joan-Gossling Hawkins


Hawkins, Joan Gossling 77, of Spring Hill and Clearwater, passed away at Hospice Care Center, in Brooksville on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and attended John Hopkins University and later earned her Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida. She retired as the In-Service Director for Mease Hospital in Dunedin. She also did volunteer work at Kimberly Home, Clearwater and Day Star Organization. She was a member of the Respect Life Organization for the Catholic Church. She attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Dunedin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter P. Hawkins. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo, and her husband, Karl R. Wagner; 3 grandchildren, David Boothe, Lisa, Boothe, and Michael Boothe; 2 great-grandchildren, Destiny Davison-Boothe and Christian Campbell; 2 sisters, Marjorie Gossling Howard, of Washington, DC and Patricia Gossling MacCart of King, of Prussia, PA. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, from 10 am to 11 am at Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes, 280 Mariner Blvd. A Funeral Mass will commence at 11:30 am in St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, and burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery.
