Joan F. Allen Johnson Joan Frances Allen Johnson, 92, a retired teacher, died Saturday, June 7, 2003. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday at St. Mary Primitive Baptist Church at 454 W. Call St. in Tallahassee, with burial at Crawford Cemetery in Crawfordville. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. EDT today at Strong & Jones Funeral Home in Tallahassee (224-2139).She was the last child of Garfield and Willie Frank Gavin. She taught at Kirksey Elementary in Leon County before consolidation and resided in Boston and Chicago for several years before returning to Tallahassee. She is survived by three nieces she helped raise, Helen Hargrett Talbot and Frances W. Simkins, both of Boston, and Queen Hargrett Bruton of Tallahassee, and six other nieces and nephews, Olivia H. Jones of Chicago, Countess Johnson of Crawfordville, Thomas Hargrett (and wife Sandra) of Tampa, Clytie Cooper of Chicago, Willa G. Frank (and husband Douglas) of Tewksbury, Mass., and Clain E. Triplett of Fort Lauderdale.
