Joan Lee Eleanor died April 22, 2009 at John Knox Village Medical Center, in Orange City. Joan was born on March 12, 1918 in Shelby, Ohio. She raised her family in Cincinnati where she was very active in the Presbyterian church and was the first woman Elder in the Ohio Synod. She moved to Florida in 1973 and served as a celebrated Volusia County Hospice volunteer during the 12 years that she lived in Deltona. For 10 of the past 11 years she has been an active community member aka "Party Coordinator Extraordinaire" at John Knox Village in Orange City. Joan was known for her contagious smile, penchant for fun, sense of style, and her many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J. Calvin Lee. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Lashley (Jim); two sons, Jay C. Lee (Amy) and Mark Lee (Mary); granddaughters, Kimberly Weir and Suzanne Hayes (Paul); along with four great-grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Aiden and Sydney. Joan was a member of the Deltona Christian Church. A celebration of life ceremony will take place 3 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the John Knox Village activity center, Orange City. In lieu of flowers, Joan would want donations made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
