Joan D. Goodwin, 80, died Friday, March l, 2013 at the Masonic Homes of Kentucky in Shelbyville. She was a native of Camden, New Jersey. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a Leadership Shelby alumni, and was a member and an elder of the Shelbyville First Presbyterian Church. She had been the director as well as a board member with the Shelby County Drug/Alcohol Advisory Council (Shelby Prevention). She had been on the advisory board for the Shelbyville Police Law Enforcement Block Grant and a board member of the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy. In 2001 she was the Shelby County Citizen of the Year. She also had worked as an elementary school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Maurice Goodwin Jr. She is survived by her sons, Francis ?Tad? Goodwin III (Deborah) of Stockbridge, VT and Rodman M. Goodwin (Margo Tiffany) of Chicago, IL; her daughter, Megan Goodwin (Bruce Roscoe) of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and her 3 grandchildren, Clinton Roscoe, Jane Goodwin, and Robin Goodwin. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Shelbyville First Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
