MILTON — Joan O. Brown, 77, of White Mountain Highway in Milton, died March 4, 2010, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. Born March 28, 1932 in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Henry B. and Helen I. (Brazer) Batchelor, she was raised in Brookline, Mass., and resided in Milton since 1956.Joan was a graduate of The Windsor School, Brookline. She held an Associate Degree from Colby Junior College and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Hampshire, having graduated Cum Laude. She had served as a Librarian at the Nute Library, she especially enjoyed having owned and operated with her husband and children the "Red Door Sport and Gift Shop" in Milton for years. She was a member of the Community Church of Milton, and served as Secretary, Friendship Circle of the Community Church and a member of FANA, collectors and displays of old fans, having recently helped to organize their National Convention in Portsmouth. Joan loved photography of nature and she painted with watercolor of New England landscapes and still life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of 53 years O. Wendell Brown and their three children: Marie and husband Gary Watson of Wolfeboro, Helen and husband Dennis Kaszynski of Peyton, Colo., and Thomas H. Brown of Nashua; five grandchildren: William and Christopher Watson, Alex and Peter Kaszynski and Coby Robinson; her twin sister Anne Granger DeGrazia of Augusta, Ga., a brother Norman Batchelor of Cape Neddick, Maine, also nine nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother Bigelow Batchelor.Calling hours are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington, NH. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Community Church of Milton, 7 Steeple St. in Milton with Rev. Betsy Webber, pastor, officiating.
