HENDERSON, Joan Barrett 80, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at home in Palm Harbor. She was born in Bradenton, Sept. 6, 1927 to William and Del Barrett. She moved with her family to Dade County in 1939, attended local schools, and graduated from Edison High School in 1945. She attended Brenau College for 2 years, was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and graduated with the University of Miami, class of 1950. Joan married John (Tom) Henderson in 1958. They resided for many years in Coral Gables. She was a teacher of ESOL and accent reduction in adult education classes of the Dade County Schools' English Center, followed in 1989 by relocation to CLearwater and later to Palm Harbor. For several years, Joan was a volunteer with Tampa Bay Harvest. Survivors include her husband; sons, Barrett, Atlanta, David, Coral Gables; daughter, Martha, Atlanta; sister Virginia Fraser, Herndon, VA. Memorial services will be held at the Coral Oaks Senior Living Community at 10 am March 6 and at the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor March 20 at 11 am.
