Joan Atkinson Smith January 3, 1940 - February 11, 2015 Phenix City, AL- Joan Atkinson Smith, 75, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST, on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Reverend Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will be private and the family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born on January 3, 1940, in Phenix City, AL. She dearly loved her family, placing them above herself in all situations and loved caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Baglioni and step father Frank A. Baglioni, and grandparents, G.F. Cain and Zadie Lee Cain. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Frank R. Smith; two sons, Gregory F. Smith and wife Candi, Joel R. Smith; sister, Martha A. Ritter and husband David; grandchildren, Ethan D. Smith and Dakota R. Smith; nieces, Debbie Faison and husband Otis, Gini Behar and husband Mike; many family members and caring friends.
