Joan Bordiga Anderson, 76, of Cave Creek, AZ, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Monday, February 10. She was born in Syracuse to the late Angelo and Columbia (Galante) Bordiga in 1937. She worked for TWA Airlines and later served as President of James H. Anderson, Inc. for 10 years, a commercial construction company in Melrose Park, IL. Her memberships included the Illinois Club for Catholic Women, Committee of 200, Federation of Women Contractors, Chicagoland Sheet Metal Contractors Association and Legatus (Catholic CEO Organization). In 1976, the Joan B. Anderson Cultural Arts and Community Center opened in her honor. She was also recognized by Crain's Chicago Business, ranked 20 of Chicago's Largest Women Owned Firms, Working Women 500-Winner, 1999 Turnaround Situation and Best Employer in the Midwest. Surviving are her two daughters, Kristin (Michael) Anderson Progar of Hinsdale, IL and Kaarin (Alexander David) Anderson Hardy of Hillsborough, CA; three grandchildren, Emily, Corisande and Eleanor Hardy; a brother, James Bordiga of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, DeWitt. There are no calling hours.
