JONES , Jo-Anne Melanie (nee Boyd) September 26, 1953 - January 24, 2010 Jo-Anne Melanie Jones, loving mother to Carrie Alissa, Catherine Lee and Cynthia Gayle, and devoted wife to Bruce Jones, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 56 years. She was proud to be "Nan" to Raina Janay (eight) and Nicholas Jacob (one), and mother-in-law to Peter Jones. She is survived by her father Jack Boyd, and her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Guy Buchanan and Karen and Grant Furnald. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be missed with loving, warm memories. After being diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma in 2005, she fought the odds over and over again, and her strength kept us together. She was awaiting a life saving stem cell treatment scheduled for this March, however her battle was full of complications. Despite her best efforts, strength, and enduring love, her body could not cope with the infections she developed. She passed peacefully with a tearful family by her side. Jo-Anne will be cremated and taken by family to Vancouver Island, her second home and a place of refuge. A Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) today, January 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. She was adamant that her funeral be a celebration of her life, a time to remember fond memories, and to recall her story. The gathering of family and friends will be a time to share in all the joy that she brought to our lives. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . God saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "peace be thine". In living memory of Jo-Anne Jones, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575.
