Jewell Mae Johnson, age 79 of Springfield, Mo., went to the loving arms of Jesus, Friday, April 16, 2010, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was a well known, sought after floral designer for more than 40 years. She loved to go play bingo and slots with her children. She was united in marriage to Edwin J. Johnson, on December 14, 1946, in Boulevard Baptist Church by the Reverend Dale Hufft. To this union, six children were born, three sons and three daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; a granddaughter, Jessica Prine; a son, Darrell Wayne Porter; and a nephew, Ronnie Mitchem. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Edwin; six children and their spouses, Rick, Duane, Debbie, Cheryl, Jeff and Robin; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Emma and Cass; and two nephews, Randy Mitchem and Chuck Mitchem. Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
